    The wine was alright. The service was friendly enough, but at first we felt a little ignored, as if they weren't spending as much time on the outside eaters. They were better once we were indoors (moved in because of mosquitos once we had enjoyed a sunset, which was quite pleasant). I guess I thought everything was fine, but nothing really jumped out at me. It's certainly a nice place to go enjoy a meal, but I don't know that the food or wine is worth the price.

    Seriously, one of the best places in Las Cruces. The food and wine are excellent and I love the venue. I have had a lot of things on the menu and the only thing I didn't like was the artichoke dip considering they put a southwestern spin on it that I personally didn't appreciate. They have changed there menu recently and on of the things I loved that they had was a pork loin dish that had a WONDERFUL mango chipotle sauce. Now they use the sauce with a meatloaf, which is something I just don't eat. So when I order a steak (which is amazing), I ask for a side of the sauce to dip in and the deliciously seasoned grilled veggies in! I probably go through 4-5 bottles of their wine a month! Their Port brownie is awesome as well! And they have a great jazz band that plays on the weekends that really is a joy to listen to.

    Had a very enjoyable dinner here this evening, and I would rate it very good value. Five of us shared 2 appetizers (crab cakes -- quite good, and New Mexican spinach dip -- also tasty), each had an entree, plus a couple of side salads, and had generous wine samples and then bought a bottle of their syrah. Total bill $125 before tip. Very generous portions -- everyone had leftovers to take away. This is not "lite" fare, as there is generous use of butter/cream to counterbalance the spiciness of the dishes. I had the pasta New Mexico and really enjoyed it. The wines are not great (most are sweet) but the syrah we had, though a bit over-oaked, was light and a fine foil to the spicy food we had. And at $14 / bottle (special of the night) it was fine value. Would gladly go here again.

    I have been to the Birstro I believe 4 times now. The first two times I was in love, and now...its just kinda lust...but only with the wine :) The food just doesn't seem the same, everything is kind of bland. This go around I had the Pasta Danielle, which I had had before....it just didn't have very much flavor, and the chicken had a processed or frozen flavor. I also for the first time had a size Cesar Salad...which I could not even eat because of the overload taste of fish. I know that real Cesar Dressing has anchovy, but this taste was over powering. The bread is always good, and I am a sucker for their sweet White or Red Mimbres... I should have just stuck to the bread and wine and I would have had not complaints.

    This is our second time dinning here after recently moving to the area. As an appetizer we had the cheese nosh - an assortment of cheeses, berries, & chocolate. Next my boyfriend and I shared a kale and brussels sprout salad with an agave-dijon vinaigrette. It was light and crisp and a good start to the meal. I would have liked to have fresh-cracked pepper but that was not offered. For our entree we shared the Southwestern Meatloaf. The meatloaf although flavorful was served warm at best. I contemplated sending it back but by the time the waiter came back to check on us there really was no point. It was served with green beans and mashed potatoes both were simply okay but nothing special about them. I was looking forward to having crime brûlée for dessert however that wasn't one of the nights dessert options so we passed. In addition to our meal we tried a couple of their wines. After trying a few I settled on a Petite Verdot, it was average but I would not order it again. It would be nice to see St. Claire feature wines from other vineyards in addition to their own. Hopefully, St, Claire takes these reviews into consideration and makes improvements to their food. Unfortunately, as of right now the atmosphere is about the best thing going for this establishment.

    Good selection and awesome price for tasting. $6 for 6 tastes your choice from the full menu. Great service by bartender Robert. Try the chenin blanc and the gewurztraminer. Don't forget the sparkling wines!

    If you're in New Mexico, this is the place to go for dining and wine-ing ;). Best meal I've had in a really long time and especially during my summer 2014 roadtrip to California. But please, go super hungry or go after making sure your hotel has a fridge and microwave.... Because we wanted to try their recommended appetizer, wine, and then two entrees..... We couldn't finish nor take it to go :(. It was a tragedy! We did take home 3 bottles of wine though haha. (As gifts lol) Everything we ordered was delicious so I'm sure everything else will be delicious as well! Unfortunately I don't remember the names.... Sorry! Guess I'll have to go again... ;)

    I found St. Clair's to be a hidden gem. Living on the West side, it takes the same amount of time to drive to Las Cruces as it does to drive to the East side. The first time I went to St. Clair's I was BLOWN away, the fresh bread with herb butter the offer, their amazing crab cakes with hatch chiles, and delicious ghiradelli chocolate desserts were above and beyond what I expected. My husband had the steak and was impressed, and I ordered the Chicken Picado. My husband LOVED his dish and I thought mine was decent, but not that great. The sides; however, were well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The second time my husband I went, we decided to try something new, the Julien's salad with pecan dressing and the pasta New Mexico were AMAZING. If you're looking for a romantic night, filled with amazing food (at equally amazing prices), look no further. Make sure to make a reservation, as it can get pretty packed on weekend nights, and also be sure to try out their indoor patio! Five stars for food, service, and overall ambiance! :D

    This place is great for date night or girls night out! Tons of wine options. We had the wine of the month for only $9 for a bottle. I had the green chile chicken pasta which was creamy and the chile wasn't too hot and had so much flavor. The bread is so good with the garlic butter. The service was good as usual and the atmosphere is elegant yet casual.

    I decided to give this place one more chance after a terrible experience dining here last year with a group. However this experience was worse than before. We were seated in the tasting room area. I wanted to try a wine flight so I asked for a wine flight list. After searching for 10 minutes the server just takes one off another table in the dining room. Thought it a little strange they didn't have any tasting menus in the actual tasting room. Server comes back to table with water but only two glasses for a table of 3 people. Says she'll grab another glass but after 15 minutes I still have no water. She comes back to table and when I ask for water she says that she will refill my water in a minute. I had to tell her that she never brought me any water to drink. Server then brings out the food on a tray from the kitchen but there are only 2 dishes on the tray. Said she forgot my dish back in the kitchen and came back with it eventually. But the best part was when I when to pay my check. I gave the server a credit card and when the credit card slip came back it was over $6.00 higher than what my actual bill was for the meal! I had to hunt down the server and wait for it to be corrected. She never apologized which should have been the first thing out of her mouth for the horrible service she had provided but all she had were excuses as to why it wasn't her fault. It's impossible to enjoy dining out when the service is terrible!

    I do love this place....however....service is so slow. We were always looking for out waitress. The food was okay but not spectacular. I had a burger...was suppose to be medium...served very well done. Mac & cheese was good but not as creamy as Crave Restaurant. Coffee tasted old and bitter. But I love the wine and atmosphere. This restaurant is just a few steps from being great. Just be exact with your food orders, check on your customers frequently, and invest in a good blend of coffee.

    St. Clair is a place in my hometown that I am quick to frequent. Their atmosphere is five stars. It s a beautiful escape and their service is excellent. Their food is alright for me...a little pricy for what you get. They took their Brie off the menu a while back which makes me sad. They do a great job infusing the classic green chili flavor in their dishes. Their wine is good with choices plentiful. For Las Cruces this restaurant is five stars.

    When I visit Las Cruces, this is one on my list of favorite places to dine. The food has always been good, I LOVE every wine on the list that I have ordered thus far and our waiters (do not believe I have had a waitress yet) have ALWAYS been on top of it... Courteous, professional, lighthearted and attentive. One went so far as To track down and provide mosquito spray for us! I have never chosen to eat inside therefore am unable to provide details for that particular part of the restaurant. The atmosphere outside is very relaxed and peaceful. It serves well as both a romantic dining experience, casual business meeting, AND a comfortable place to eat and laugh with family and friends without the worry of others around you being "stuffy". My only suggestions... Relocate the wine rack in the middle of the entrance and a Provide a little more training to your hostesses.... And most importantly, citronella candles or fans to keep the gnats and mosquitoes awAy! Consider vanilla soaked cotton balls as well for gnat control. Little boogers bite! Research natural bug repellent

    My husband and I went to celebrate our anniversary . I am a wine drinker and my husband drinks beer. We have been married 26 years and it was finally my turn to pick a place to eat. My husband had his reservations about the restaurant. We were seated out in the patio area . Within minutes a waitress came to greet us. She was very friendly and her name was Sabrina . We started with the meatballs which were excellent. I got a wine flight and my husband got a beer . They also were good. Next we ordered our meals . I got the catch of the day and husband got the prime rib . He was worried because it was a Monday night . When the food came out it was really very good . The prime rib was cooked perfect , medium rare and had great flavor . Hubby was in heaven !! My dish was equally good ! We enjoyed the evening and want to go back soon . Sabrina was a pleasure and I ended up buying some wine to go

    I wish we had places like this in Tucson. Ok well we do, but the food was really good here. I had the slow cooked merlot beef, and it was soooo good I wish I could have it every night! Our server was WONDERFUL!!!!! I wish I could remember her name. She was very welcoming and let us know what locals do and told us how we should spend our time in NM. I could have done without the gray haired lady manager she really had no presence she came to the table to greet us and jumbled some thing about the wine, and I was left thinking what the hell did she mean/say? Some people just shouldn't be heard.

    I'm really between making this a 4 or 5 star restaurant..... What I liked: - Cozy atmosphere; loved the decor, feels like you're on a vineyard location - the Brie Bites appetizer, WOW deliciousness wrapped up in some puff pastry filo dough. The sauce (mixture of cranberry/mixed berry/syrup) is a great compliment - The Pasta New Mexico; being as I was visiting New Mexico, I knew beforehand that I had to have green chili. This was a decent pasta. Heavy and creamy, but good flavor with the sun dried tomatoes and (of course) the green chili - taste whatever wine you're considering..... we probably tasted 4-5 different ones. That's always nice What I didn't like: - closed a bit early, but then again it was a Tuesday evening Really not much to dislike.... just not enough UMPH for a 5 star, ya know? Still would highly recommend this place. I'll be back when I'm in the area.

    Just because you're working at a winery, it doesn't entitle you to act like a snob. I've been to many wineries. Never had I ever experienced being looked at like a third class citizen until I my visit here.

    Stopped off for lunch and it did not disappoint. We tried the chicken with green chile - maybe just me but the chicken may have been a tad over done but then I prefer tastier dark meat these days as it has more flavor. The waitress recommended the pork and green chile soup which was very tasty although being a fan of the crock pot - the pork could have been a bit softer. All said I would stop by again as the staff was friendly and offered samples of the wines before we selected a glass. NM wine is a new concept I had no idea that they once produced so much wine in the state.

    We stopped for a quick visit on our road trip across Texas and New Mexico. I have been let down by many a winery in California where I am from. As I am not much of a "wino" and usually just tag along on these trips for the company, I am turned off by constant correction and judgement on my improper wine verbiage and etiquette, etc. But my whole paradigm was changed when I walked into this place. We were kindly and efficiently served by Robert. He didn't care that I knew nothing about red wine. He had an incredible knowledge of wine- and that's all that mattered, and he payed so much attention to each of our personal pallets- his suggestions were spot on! Incredibly humble and made good conversation. Good atmosphere, great cheese and chocolate accompaniment. We will be sure to recommend this winery to friends, and will be back the next time we visit NM!

    Husband and I ended up having an enjoyable time on a very windy afternoon at this restaurant. Waitress did an amazing job selling us great meals: the marsalias chicken and kobe burger, and a case of wine! Manager came and sat with us explaining how to ship wine- very helpful. We will come back. Sorry this is so late...we were there last year!

    Very disappointed this trip to St. Clair's. We arrived about a half hour before closing. Only wanted a snack and a salad and of course a glass of wine. Took a while to get the waitress. Note to self, don't take a booth in the bar area again. The Tilapia (Fish) Fingers and wine was delicious as usual but the salads were limp. I asked if they were pre-made and she said No, sent them both back, only got one back. Just slightly less limp. The service was ok but the Manager walking thru announcing to the waiters they better get any orders in because the kitchen was closing and the girl sweeping the floor next to our table was not excusable. Mind you there were plenty of patrons still in the bar and one other booth with a couple. Saw plenty of people still in the restaurant proper. Next time we'll visit the place down the street.

    We were seated on the patio which was nice. The wine was good, the server forgot many things and even the pen for me to sign the credit slip. The nosh plate would have been fantastic if it didn't look as if the cheese had been sitting out all day. The garlic chicken had too many bones, the prime rib was fatty and nasty but the vegetables were good. The meatball appetizer was phenominal and so was the desert. Don't order the chocolate red wine...It was nasty...I had such high expectations for this place. It is cheap there so not a total waste of money; just not a place I will return to.

    We drove over an hour to try out this restaurant hoping it would be a nice date night experience since there are minimal "nice" restaurants in our area. We ordered a cheese platter and it was brought out without any explanation of what the 5+ different varieties of items were on the plate (brought out by an individual who was not our server) on top of this, one of the pieces of bread that came on our cheese plate was covered in hardened, red, goo. Our wine did not arrive until we reminded the original server, who also asked us if anyone had explained the different cheeses and pairings to us - no one did. Within minutes of ordering we received our appetizer but what was troubling was that just minutes after that, a different server brought out our entrees. Clearly these entrees were not made to order. We asked the served to hold the entrees as we had just sat down and received our appetizer and he claimed that he would have them re-made so that they didn't sit under a heater. About 5 minutes after that, our "new" entrees came out. The main issue here is that your server does not stick with you (or at least did not last night) which created chaos.A different server brought out our appetizer without explaining it, and then another server brought out the entrees within minutes, and our original server stopped by occasionally to do damage control. After getting the "new" entrees, we spoke to the manager and left so I cannot touch on how the entrees were, nor the wine. Thankfully the manager was kind and did not charge us and apologized for the poor experience which was much appreciated, additionally the man who was our original server was very kind, this was completely not his fault - just a serious issue with organization at this restaurant as well as many unprofessional staff members (hosts and servers walking through the "nice" restaurant smacking gum!). We will not be returning.

    Crab cakes were luke warm...service was sub par....it is not so much a "bistro or restraunt" as it is a building that happens to sell wine and food....kind of like a 7-11. The main meal was decent, but nothing I could not make at home. Overall, the place was fair.

    Dear Yelp Journal, New Mexico is known for being, "The Land of Enchantment" and after driving an hour to Las Cruces from El Paso, I couldn't believe it, until I sat down and was greeted by a delicious bottle(s) of Champagne! The ambiance is of course "winery" in nature. The wall of wine was massive, and beautifully displayed. When we came, there was a live jazz band that brought some added character to the whole scene. Our waitress, was attentive, chatty, and had a great sense of humor! She entertained us more than the band! :) I loved the meals we ordered and it was complimented by the tasty blush champagne we ordered! The dessert was foodgasmic! The warm sticky sweet Bread Pudding was a pleasant end to the evening. Deliciousness! I can't wait to come back again to eat and drink some more! :)

    I've been to St. Clair's a few times and it's become a staple during my visits out to El Paso. Since Las Cruces is only about an hour away, this is an easy drive that's definitely worth it. The location has a great setup including a pretty good sized wine bar, tables inside, or if you'd prefer they have a very nice outdoor patio. They have flights of wine available and if you feel like a little food to go with the wine, their is a nice restaurant inside. They have a small gift area inside that focuses on their wines which are quite affordable and good. The last time I went for lunch with my girlfriend the manager came over to talk as well as share a little about the wines. They do have quite a few good wines. I had a glass of the Chocolate D'Vine which is very rich and tasty. It was like dessert in a glass. The bread is complimentary and wonderful. It's served warm with a great garlic butter that is the perfect way to start off a good meal. For lunch I ordered the bistro dip. The prime rib was thinly shaved with Swiss on a nice french roll with warm au jus sauce on the side. It came with sweet potato fries that were just right. Warm and the perfect amount of crunch. Their bread pudding is also amazing. It is on the sweet side and includes golden raisins, white chocolate, milk chocolate and a wonderful warm sauce all around. If you have a sweet tooth, this is a great way to finish a wonderful meal.

    We ate here on a Friday night so it was busy and I'd recommend making reservations in advance. The place itself is very nice; there are wine bottles everywhere and it's cool to look at. The wine was good and they have a huge selection. We ordered spinach artichoke dip, which I was a little wary about since I'm picky about how it's made. Theirs was really good - went well with the wine. They also brought out some bread and butter - I would go back just for the bread. Had pasta for dinner but I didn't like it at all, neither did my sister. She ordered hers spicy but it ended up tasting like they added crushed red peppers on the top, versus mixing it in with the sauce. I ordered pasta with vegetables but wow do they saute it in heavy butter. That's all I could taste + the marinara sauce was super bland, tasted like a dish I would have at Olive Garden. I will be going back there but only for the wine and appetizers. Oh and the dessert! Brownie + ice cream was excellent.

    I ordered the rib eye and it was terrible, and the wine was nothing to rave about. Although the wine is local i must say that it is below average. The service was friendly, but I could tell the person serving our table wasn't familiar with the food or wines on the menu.

    I showed up with my date early on a Thursday night. As we walked in we were immediately greeted by the server and shown to our table. There were only 3 or 4 other tables occupied in the restaurant which was fine since we were looking forward to a leisurely quiet dinner to talk and catch up. It was here where the problems began... First, it took our server almost 5 minutes to come great us. Had it been busy I would have understood but we were her only table. We ordered 2 glasses of water and a glass of wine. And waited some more. And continued to wait. Water and bread were finally served but no glass of wine. Several minutes later the wine finally appeared. We were told that all the servers had been in a mandatory pre-shift meeting - if it was a "pre-shift meeting" shouldn't it have taken place BEFORE your shift? And why wasn't at least one waiter left on the floor to take care of the customers? We placed our order with the server - my date ordered the bistro burger cooked medium and I ordered the lamb stew. Our food was brought out fairly quickly and initially both orders looked great. However, my date then bit into her burger and it was completely raw in the middle - no where close to medium and the meat was almost cold in the middle. We couldn't find out server so we waved down another and informed her. After a few minutes a manager came over. He apologized and offered to recook her burger - no thanks - she had lost her appetite after eating raw hamburger. He said sorry and said he'd take it off her bill - which is the least he could do. My lamb stew was ok. Lamb was cooked well but I wasn't crazy about the sauce it was served it. At this point we just wanted our check. It took our waitress a while to accomplish this because she had to remove the burger - why wasn't this taken care of ahead of time when the manager came and spoke to us? Walking out the same manager who had come to our table was at the door and told us a very generic "thanks for coming hope your food was great - come back to see us soon" - apparently he hadn't even remembered us from 15 minutes ago. I never YELP but I wanted to post about one of the worst experiences I have ever had eating out. Maybe I just caught them on a bad night but I'll never come back.

    Their burger and mac and cheese were gourmet delicious (make sure to add the hatched green chile with the burger). We tried their Peach white wine (that are in season in the summer right now) and it was crisp and sweet...loved it so I purchased a bottle of it ($9). The waitress serving us was attentive but not so much helpful (in terms of asking what wine choices we wanted) nor friendly.

    I love the food here. The place is always clean and friendly. The wines are interesting and done in a style different than the typical CA wine. If you except the wines for what they are you will enjoy them, just don't expect what comes out of CA. This is a place we visit at least every year and will definitely come back.

    Tried this place out on a Thursday night. It was quite busy at 730pm, which I took as a good sign, but we had no problem getting a table. There were live cello players in the corner of the main dining room and combined with the decor, created a very inviting atmosphere that is definitely all about wine. Our service was excellent. His name is George and he did a great job, with lots of quiet walk-bys to see how we were doing, and stopping if he detected our need of something. He made some great wine recommendations as well. The food was very good. I ordered the Merlot roasted pot roast, which came with some very home style mashed potatoes and vegetables. My wife had the Garlic Chicken, and when I go back I am definitely getting this! It was the best dish out of the 3 we tried. I definitely recommend this place for a nice adults only dinner.

    My favorite place to stop for some wine! I am so excited for your new location and I can't wait to stop in for a visit! They offer great tastings and the servers really know their stuff. I was so sad that my favorite wine was out of stock, Mourvedre was out of stock. But the next time I'm in town I will have to pick up a couple bottles. This is a great place for a quick bit to eat or an amazing dinner. I highly recommend this place for visitors to stop in before they walk around Old Mesilla.

    We ate here about three years ago on our way west. Since then it has been relocated. We rated it "4 stars" then and believe it still is as good if not a little better. Ambiance is great as well as the view of the mountains. Food and service were good. The wine OK. We'll definitely stop here the next time we are out this way.

    The food was good and the atmosphere and decor were also quite fabulous. We had the spinach and artichoke dip as an appetizer (which was a very generous portion, and unexpectedly spicy!). I tried the "Pasta New Mexico," which was delicious, and a half portion left me with enough to take home leftovers. My boyfriend had the Southwest Burger, and he liked it, except for it was cooked well-done instead of medium like he asked. We're not too picky, so we didn't bring it to our waiter's attention. My only (and minor) complaint were that the tables are pretty close together, leaving very little room to navigate through the restaurant. I felt that I was in the way when other patrons were going to/coming from their tables. Other than that, it was pretty great.

    Overpriced food, overdone interior, overrated reviews.... I went with a party of six and sat inside the St. Clair Bistro to celebrate a late mother's day. The menu is varied but seems to be trying too hard. All the choices that sounded appealing went a little too far in the ingredients list, so I opted for a basic grilled chicken with a side salad and the potato of the day. After very slow service, where I had to ask a manager (?) for more water, the food arrived. The burgers that half the table ordered looked tasty, but 2 of them were served incorrectly from ordered (medium well instead of rare and one missing lettuce). The burger with green chile arrived with one large chile laying across it instead of the anticipated diced ones (menu is not specific but it did look weird). My chicken was dry and overcooked. Not bland, but certainly not flavorful (moisture would've probably helped a lot!). The salad was ok, but the pecan dressing looked like, "hair gel" and was sickeningly sweet. The garlic mashed potatoes were very tasty as was the garlic butter for the bread (which seemed to be frozen baked bread, good, not great). The potential is there if St. Clair would simplify the decor and the menu.

    5 for food quality, 4 for decor, 4 for service, -1 for wine quality. I would rate higher if the name "winery" didn't come before "bistro". They served me their finest syrah which tasted like furniture polish. Again, food is excellent, so drink the water.

    Our return visit to St. Clair Bistro was to it's new location. The new location is far superior to their old location and much larger. The food was very good, pasta and a panini. The only wine we tasted was the wine of the day (Muscato), which was very good since my wife and I both prefer white and sweeter wines.

    My sons took me to your buffet on Mother's Day. They are from CA and have never been to your winery. I have been to your buffets twice and really liked it; however, this time I was very disappointed. The food was not as good as I remembered it and the room lacked atmosphere. Most restaurants give the mothers a flower. I missed not having a that personal touch.

    One of the very few places in Las Cruces that (a) doesn't slather green chillies on everything and (b) has really good food. The prices are on the high side, but the food good. The ribeye was excellent for the price as were the marsala chicken. The wine selection is pretty good and they have a selection of excellent imported wines in addition to their own products. Be sure to try one of the green chili wines.

    If I was local, this would be one of my haunts. The cheese plate was great, lots of cheese, red pepper spread, dark chocolate and strawberries. The chicken marsala was good to. Great view of the mountains from the outside patio. Great service too!

    We continue to find ourselves, inveterate foodies, drawn back to this lovely bistro. I just can't seem to get anything but the kobe burger medium rare with sweet potato fries ($9.45) as it is one of the best burgers I have had. My wife tried the pesto pasta dish and it was truly delicious. The service always has been exemplary in our opinion and this last visit we had several unusual requests, all of them were met with competence and cheerfully. We were given samples of the green chili wine and it was very nice! We left the building with a case. It was Wed. so bottles of wine at the table are $10, that is a very good deal. The bottle of Blue Teal Merlot was a very good wine The atmosphere is quite nice, not overly noisy, attractive decor. We just can't say anything negative about the St. Clair Bistro except the meatballs were forgotten in the pasta dish, but this quickly was rectified and we were given extra meatballs for the mistake.

    I've been to St. Clair Bistro several times and never had a bad MEAL there. The menu has a lot of variety, the entrees and vegetables are well-cooked and well-sauced, they make homemade bread fresh from the oven, the ambiance is nice, and the waitstaff are friendly and competent. Why is this not a five-star review? Because, my friends, the wine is UNDRINKABLE. Absolutely gross. I've tried several varieties of the St. Clair and it is uniformly too sweet, even when it's supposed to be dry. If I want to shudder I will drink Manischewitz, I don't need to try New Mexico wine! Without exception, people from out of state who have accompanied me to the restaurant have ordered wine but left theirs untouched because they literally couldn't stomach it.

    12 bucks for 6 tiny pours of mediocre wine? I think they forget that this isn't napa, but rather the middle of nowhere New Mexico and they aren't pouring opus one. I haven't been prior to the remodeling, but this place isn't like most wineries I've been to before. Besides for being overpriced, there isn't really a tasting room set up, it's rather just the bar area of a restaurant. Our server while polite, was extremely young and had nothing to offer in terms of knowledge about the wines he was pouring. Maybe check this place out if you're interested in dining at the restaurant, but if you're just interested in a wine tasting, you'll be better served going elsewhere.

    I've been in town for work for a month and I've been here three times. That's how amazing this place is. Service is excellent. Been here with groups of 5-8 people and wait staff was always good and never balked at splitting the checks up. The wine list isn't long, but is very good and extremely reasonable price-wise. The St. Clair wines are in the $18-25 range per bottle, and easily as good as something you'd pay $30+ other places. They had a few other selections that weren't there own. No liquor though, beer and wine only. Free bread comes out right away, along with an excellent herb butter. The Nosh plates (cheese and snack plates) and artichoke dip I got were both very good. I've had the strip steak and American Kobe burger and both were very good. Also had the garlic chicken and have to reiterate how amazing this was. Chicken was juicy and tender, and the sauce it's cooked in is really good. The roasted garlic is great for spreading on the bread. I've tried all the slow cooked items between myself and my friends, and again, all very good. Highly recommended!

    The best kept secret of Las Cruces. The bistro is a wonderful slice of heaven that pairs nicely with the wine tasting that is offered. St. Clair Winery and Bistro is by far my favorite restaurant in the area. I really cannot say one negative thing about this place. The prices are very reasonable. The food is outstanding and world-class. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive. The wine list is long and featuring a great assortment of local wineries. I don't recall any bottles of wine costing over $50, and the mean price is around $20. On each of my visits (which include the lunch and dinner) I was seated outside. This place is not pricey at all, all dished are large enough to leave ample leftovers. It's located within walking distance from historic old Mesillia, so you can walk off your dinner window shopping. St. Clair's was a huge hit for myself and the group of guys that became a regular fixture in our evening meal outings.

    Never had a bad meal or wine here. They call themselves a winery/bistro but I think steakhouse should also be added. Staff is attentive and knows the menu and their wines. And as for the wines, who da thunk that New Mexico had so many great ones. A "must visit" when passing through Las Cruces. We are thinking of "noshing" lunch there tomorrow.

    The food was good, and I pretty much only stick to dry red wines, but I enjoyed their wines too. I went to dinner here with my gal a while ago and the service was a little slow, but not even all that noticeable. Enough that when someone on the staff apologized, I laughed it off. The manager didn't see the humor in it and comped our dinner. Totally unnecessary, but shows that they're trying really hard. Good food, nice decor and atmosphere, and a high standard of service. I'll be back, and more than willing to pay.

    ST CLAIRE'S IS GETTING LAZY. Really, really lazy. It's almost as if St. Claire's knows that with the demise of Lorenzo's and the emergence of the neighboring and way overpriced Savoy that they can get lazy with their restaurant operations and still manage to get enough people to come in because for what they do at their price point, they're still the only game in town. Here's what prompted me to edit my review to reflect St. Claire's lack of attention to detail. 1) The place was slow, so whether it was the attention of the server or the kitchen brigade, there should have been plenty of it. Yet one of my specific requests was not heeded. Not cool. So folks with food allergies, especially: beware. 2) I ordered chicken, and while the chicken was hot, it was also bone dry and stringy, and the accompanying potatoes and gravy were lukewarm at best, and the veggies were downright cold. For the type of restaurant that St. Claire's aspires and purports to be, messing up on these basics are just not acceptable, and if I felt that sending it back would have done something other than irritate the kitchen and earn my plate a trip to the microwave, I would have done so. 3) The place was over air-conditioned. The bartender, both people sitting at the bar, and many of the restaurant patrons were wearing coats inside all while the outside temp was in the 20s. One of my biggest pet peeves is when restaurants adjust climate control for the staff and not for patrons. But in this case even the barkeep was freezing! 4) This is minor, but for a place built around a beverage (wine), it would be nice if an effort could be made for drinking water to not taste like Clorox. Maybe this is done on purpose to encourage folks to buy wine instead, but there must be an alternative to Clorox drinking water. With their prices, menu (when done right) and more detailed, attentive service, St Claire's SHOULD be a 5-star restaurant--especially for Las Cruces, and it has the potential to be one. But right now the trend is downward and picking up steam. Here's hoping they'll turn it around, and soon. *** FROM MY AUGUST 2012 REVIEW The new location is really beautiful and surpasses the aesthetic beauty of the previous location both as far as the interior as well as the view. The menu has only minimally changed as well, and fortunately the food was as good as I remember it at the old location. The ONE drawback is due to the food-delivery system the restaurant has in place in which one person takes your order and a completely different one delivers it to your table, and which runs the risk--as we experienced on our recent visit--of mistakes being made and the person who took the order not being able to confirm that the food served up by the kitchen corresponds to the original order. When two of three guests do not initially receive an accurate order, this is just inexcusable at a restaurant where the average ticket is around $20 per person and where the server stands to earn more than a $10 tip on our table alone assuming all goes well. Fortunately Zan the manager made things right with our party and we will definitely be returning, and we hope the food-delivery arrangement changes.

    Best restaurant in Las Cruces (Old Messilla). I am from San Diego and living in LC area for a couple of months and found this wonderful restaurant. Highly recommended. Everything I have tried on the menu has been excellent. The service is great, atmosphere reminds me of the places in Napa Valley. This has become my "GO TO" restaurant in New Mexico.

    Good food based on a single visit. Their wine is decent and probably not as exciting for me, as I have tried it at least once a year for the last five years at the local wine fests. I had the ribeye, which, along with the vegetables, was cooked and seasoned well. The side of mashed potatoes could have used some more fresh herbs or garlic to make them a bit less plain. My only major complaint would be that the steak was 1/2 inch thick, which is officially the thinnest ribeye I think I have ever had. For the price, I would expect a thicker cut. Given the choice, strictly based on the ribeye, I would pay a little extra and go to Double Eagle; however, everyone at my table had good meals, so there are probably better entree options.

    I brought my mom here for her birthday this weekend as we traveled through Las Cruces on our way home to San Diego, and St. Clair did not disappoint! We arrived about ten minutes early for our reservation, and the hostess said they'd gladly hold our table while we tasted some wines at the bar. (Who does that?! Love.) Sommelier David was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, and our entrees were fabulous. We had the feta cream dip to start, and my mom and I each had a pasta dish (she had the pesto pasta, and I had the spicy pasta w/shrimp). (I just returned from a trip to Italy, and my mom's dish -- the pesto -- was seriously better than many of the pastas I had there.) Our other dining companion had the strip steak salad. The food was amazing and the bread pudding we were brought as a complimentary birthday dessert was to die for!

    With all the raves over the food at St Clair, I was looking forward to a great meal on our night in Las Cruces. My husband and I sat at the wine bar and paid for a tasting of their 'inexpensive' red wines, which vary in price up to about $10. My cheap $10 bottle of Napa wine in the trunk of the car was far better than any of the six we tasted. I can't vouch for the food since the wine was undrinkable and because we couldn't even opt for a beer with dinner we decided to find a meal elsewhere.

    Wow, "disappointing" doesn't begin to cover it. St. Clair is spinning in her grave. We arrived with open minds, open hearts, and open wallets, ready to partake of all this charming winery and bistro had to offer. That our patio table was acceptable is the best remark we can make. All servers ignored us for fifteen minutes: no water, no acknowledgment of any kind. We kept holding out for service, even courteously prompting a server at the ten minute mark. Meanwhile, deranged children wandered lost near our table, weeping and throwing paper airplanes and a talented if contextually clueless cover band distracted us from our hunger pangs with a bizarre Hendrix/ Hee Haw (Purple Haze/ Old McDonald) mashup. As other diners were served, we wondered what their secret was. Finally, the compassionate spirit of St. Clair intervened and led us to the door, hungrier, thirstier, and more frustrated than when we'd entered. Alas, there will be no returning to this establishment that dishonors the Saint's blessed name.

    It's hard to know what to make of St Clair Bistro. It looks like a elegant restaurant that would be at home in Santa Fe or a big city, but the prices and the quality of the food show it's true roots. Fine dining options in Las Cruces are limitted, and from a distance St Clair seems to offer some hope. The restaurant is nicely decorated (although the gift shop in the entryway is a just on the verge of being tacky - but since it mostly sells the restaurant's own wines it's not too out of place). Service was generally good. The menu looks impressive - and the prices are very reasonable (certaintly by big city standards and even for Las Cruces). So I had a lot of hope for this place. It was a night out away from the kids while visitng my parents in Las Cruces. Everyting went well until the food arrived. It wasn't terrible - but it wasn't very good either. The Cabernet Braised Pot Roast sounded a lot better on the menu - it was more like cafeteria pot roast with the uniformly cut slices of slightly gray colored beef (the sauce was OK - but there was only the slightest hint of Cabernet). My wife's chicken was equally disapointing. Mashed potatoes came with both entrees and were bland and over salted. I wasn't really in the mood for wine, but decided to try a class of a very mild red (the Blue Teal Cabernet). It wasn't terrible; it would be OK as a good cheap house wine. At $10/bottle on the website it might be worthwhile - unfortunately the Bistro charges quite a bit more than that. If the food was better St Clair would be an absolute bargain... most entrees are about $12. But if you want a good dinner in New Mexico you'll still have to take the drive to Santa Fe.

    A really casual restaurant that ended a nice afternoon driving down the Don Juan de Onate Trail. We sampled the French onion soup which was great but a tad salty. I also ordered a plate that consisted of three different cheeses and the usual fixings. My wife ordered the flat iron steak which was deliciously topped with bleu cheese. Obviously the wine list was great and we tried out the St Claire Gewürztraminer, which was quite refreshing on a hot day.

    Not only do they have great food, but if you're a wine lover like I am, they have a lot of great wines, also! St. Clair Bistro (as in St. Clair Vineyards) is located in Old Mesilla. Their lunch menu consists of sandwiches, paninis, and a couple of pastas. However, if you're just in for a wine tasting, I suggest one of their "nosh" plates. (Wine tasting is $5, but they usually wave the fee if you order food and a glass of wine.) Their dinner menu isn't huge, but the food is fantastic! I definitely recommend the Cabernet Braised Post Roast. It's like dying and going to meat-and-potatoes heaven! As for wines, if you're a white wine drinker, try the St Clair Reisling, St Clair Reserve Viogner, or the DH Lescombes Chardonnay. If you're more into Reds, definitely have a glass of the St Clair Cab-Zin, the St Clair Zinfandel, or the DH Lescombes Cabernet. The atmosphere is warm and cozy - great for a romantic evening. The dining room isn't huge, so if you are planning on going on a Friday or Saturday evening, I strongly suggest reservations.

    Nice ambiance, came during 4th of July and they had live country music. They started us right away with a muscat (free). We ordered the cheese plate and the wine sampler to start our dining experience, which helped us narrow down the wine we enjoyed the most. Kids menu had a good selection. Ordered Panini sandwich & Greek salad, which was very tasty. Finished it off with the delicious brownie with ice cream. Yummy! I loved the experience!

    Although they have some good choices for food and the wine is, depending, enjoyable, they have some structural issues. The seating is a bit low end. Imagine the same chairs and booths from Pizza Hut circa 1980. But the main issue is this decision that some manager made at some point. The waiters come to your table and ask you to decide on their gratuity while they stand right there over you. WTF? They use this machine that the waiter said they have to stand near so you don't take it, and then you input your gratuity amount while they were standing there. So I ask the waiter, "that thing doesn't just print out a receipt that we can sign when you're away from the table?" He answered, "no." So then, five minutes later I go to the bar to buy some wine and the guy there prints out a credit card slip from the same handheld device. So which is it? You can print out credit card slips or you cannot? And if you cannot, then go back to the rest of the country that uses a machine to print out slips. You are not gaining much by having those handheld things going back and forth to the tables. So odd.

    Truly excellent food (I recommend the hanger steak) and friendly/competent staff. Ryan and Jeremiah were both great behind the bar. The wine was surprisingly good -- before going in there I didn't even know NM had viticulture. The wine was a little pricey ($7-8.50 a glass) but that's par for the course for winery restaurants all over.

    Visited Oct 1 and exceeded my expectations. I have eaten at the best restaurants in Chicago, San Francisco and Santa Fe and St Clair Bistro gives great value. The DH Lescombes Cabernet Sauvignon is superb. I never dreamed that New Mexico produced good wines. The Cab was not too dry and not too sweet. The steak was tender and cooked to order. The 'gnash' was wonderful. The price was half what I would spend in Santa Fe... I will return...

    On the plus side, the ambiance of this restaurant is nice, especially out on the patio. However, the waitress we had had no knowledge of the wine list and didn't know how the serve wine properly; she didn't even pour a taste. One also cannot take home leftover wine because of licensing the bistro has. This would be OK if it were stated anywhere on the menu or wine list. Finally, the food is just OK, nothing special. The NM Chile Chicken Pasta does not taste of green chile; the mashed potatoes weren't even very tasty. Overall, I'd recommend doing a wine tasting and going elsewhere for a meal.

    Going. Going. Moving! The Grand Opening at the new location, just up the road at 1720 Avenida de Mesilla, is on the weekend of January 26 - 28. Our first visit to St. Clair was tonight in the soon to be old location. We'll be back in Las Cruces on January 28 and we enoyed our first visit so much we hope to pop in to the grand opening at the new location. Tonight we started with wine tasting at the wine bar. Six tastes from their Signature menu for a total of $6.00. Melissa, a Las Cruces native, was pouring her inaugural night at the wine bar - she knew her stuff about the wine and was most hospitable. We find we like St.Clair's whites, in particularly the Sauvignon Blanc, better than the reds. And we particularly enjoyed the sparkling wines (called champagne on their menu) that were mixed with rasperry (Kir Imperial) and black currant (Kir Royale). Perhaps the biggest surprise was the red wine based Pomegranate wine! Yum. The dinner in the Bistro exceeded our expectations. Our waiter, Issac, was knowledgable about the menu (and enthusiastic about the move too). We enjoyed the crostini trio, house salads with Mimosa (on one) and Pecan (on the other) dressing - thanks to Issac's good recommendation - and a penne pasta with sun dried tomatoes, roasted red bell peppers, kalamata olives and artichoke hearts all for under $30. Two glasses of wine added about another $16 to the bill. Omnivores probably eat here more easily than vegans, although there were items on the menu that seemed very friendly to those who lean vegetarian and several of those seemed modifiable to suit vegan eaters too. Note the new location has a stunning view of the mountains across a display vineyard. (The real growing vineyards are about an hour away in Deming.) We popped in the new building this evening just to check it out and it is really a beautiful place, more sophisticated than the current location but just as "linger-able". All in all, a "don't miss" in Las Cruces!

    I am a local New Mexican but I have never had such amazing service as I had here. Martin our server was so knowledgable on all the wine selection as well as the menu options. The manager, Tomas was outstanding! He brought me some hand picked grapes from the vineyard from their winery in Deming, New Mexico. The restaurant set off the utmost welcoming experience that I could have asked for. It was as if I was getting the VIP treatment. Secluded and private dining areas are exquisite and this dining experience was fantastic and I would highly recommend anyone who's anyone to come to St Clair's and visit Tomas and his staff for an astonishing meal experience you'll never forget.

    Their old location had a better menu and better staff. The new location's menu is ok. The entrees are heavy and there are not many vegetarian options. It does have a great bar. The atmosphere is elderly feeling and the service is horrible. We took my out of town family here for dinner and the waiter was so rude to my cousin! He ignored him and when he did address him he called him "boss". Like "hey boss did you decide what you wanted to drink?" Then would ignore him again. The place wasn't packed and the waiter was nowhere to be seen. Lame. Over rated . Don't waste your money on the food.

    My dad had sent me one of their wines, was not impressed with the Cab. When doing some research in the area, I recognized the name and saw they also had a restaurant. Well, when in Rome.........so, the Dad suggests St. Clair to eat, sounds good. It's a little quaint place. It has that vineyard feel, except you're in the desert. Walking in, the tasting bar is on the left and the restaurant is in the back. Very clean and nice. Being a Tuesday afternoon, the place was not bumping, but not empty. A waitress who had her hands full said it was okay to sit anywhere, so the three of us sat in a cool booth. The waitress came real fast and took our order. I opted to get a red flight with a cheese plate. The GF got the green chili mac 'n cheese. The cheese had some good stuff and the mac 'n cheese, even to me was tasty. I ordered the rib-eye steak, the GF got the flat iron steak and the Dad got a grilled shrimp plate. The food came in good time. The one thing I noticed was that my steak was not med-rare, but the GF's was perfect. Not a deal breaker for me. Everyone loved their food. Now to the wine: DH Lescomes Syrah - decent St. Clair Nebbiolo - full fruit forward and a nice finish DH Lescomes Pinot Noir - A big Pinot, not used to it, but got one. St. Clair Cab-Zin - the weakest of the tastings. Petite Verdot - one of my favorite varietals, but didn't measure up to others I've had. DH Lescomes Renaissance - A nice blend. It was a pleasant place and wouldn't mind going back.

    I was here on vacation in March and it is a gem. We sat at the bar and got a wine flight. The bartender was very attentive and knowledgeable. The food was also excellent. The best part about the visit was their bottled mimosas. The pineapple mimosa was delicious. I enjoyed the little shop area in the front where you can buy their bottled mimosas along with other wine and gift items. I will be back when I visit again.

    Stopped in here for some wine tasting and a quick bite, but ended up staying for a delicious dinner. We started on the wine - very good - our favorite was the Merlot. Ordered a nosh plate with cheese, nuts, crackers and chocolate! Perfect with our wine. Decided to have dinner out on the patio where there was live music. We ordered steaks to compliment our Merlot - Perfect!! The sweet potato fries were a great side as well. Overall great service and good food.

    My girlfriend and I went to here after finding it on yelp. We were just in Las Cruces for just the night. After reading the posts, I thought this would be an ok choice. We were pleasantly suprised. Cynthia, our waitress, was very attentive. We had the French Onion Soup, Pesto Pasta and the St. Clair Chicken. The food came out so quick that we thought that the kitchen had ESP. Everything was good and plentiful. I would recommend this restaurant....and ask for Cynthia.

    I've been here twice now. The first time was after a terrible snowstorm. The entire town was a terrible mess - ice, snow, more ice and COLD. A main power transformer feeding the entire local region was out to boot, so there were rolling blackouts all over town. My friends Lorie, Pappu, Vitali and I showed up at the door and asked if they were serving - yes, they said, but they couldn't guarantee WHAT they would serve, since the power was going off and on. But the staff and the patrons were making the best of it - everyone was patient, cheerful and neighborly. I don't remember what we had, but I remember we enjoyed the food and wine and had a really, really good time. And we ate most of our dinner by candlelight. This second time, I went with friends Lorie, James and Bill during this year's very wet monsoon season. It was a little to the hot side of comfortable, but we decided to eat outside on the patio. Because of the rain, the flies were surprisingly numerous and persistent, so the cheerful staff had provided electric flyswatters for us to zizz bugs with. These items were cause for much mirth and merriment at our table and the others at the expense of a number of unfortunate insects. (Bill got really good at frying flies with the swatter. Consider hiring him for your next outdoor fete.) If I come across the receipt, I'll post what we had, but we all roundly pronounced the food good, but not great. The wine was good, too. The weather gradually cooled to what we all agreed was beautiful, and I got some great photos of rain on the mountains on the other side of town, but I won't guarantee that particular ambiance will reproduce itself when you go. I'm going to say go there. The restaurant is clean and attractive, and the service is pretty good. You'll like the food and wine. The prices are fair, so the value is just about what you'd expect. And this is a place where the staff really, really wants you to enjoy yourselves. I'll be back, myself.

    We are visiting from out of town and went here based on Yelp and Trip Advisor reviews but walked out before dropping any loot. After a promising start when I made reservations over the phone with a courteous sounding gentleman, this placed disappointed our party of four and we walked out after not being attended at our table for 15 minutes (we were literally keeping time on our iPhone). We watched as several servers passed us by and not a manager in site or if there was one he or she is incompetent. A local told me that St. Clair wine was hot because it was local but that the wine was awful and only of late started to be somewhat respectable. Whether that is true or not I don't care to know but I recommend you go to a restaurant where people know their roles and perform them.

    Came in from out of town so didnt know I needed reservations. Host ignored us for over 5 mins as he walked by repeatedly. He then sat others w/out reseverations, who came in after us. His reason was that he never saw us. My friend lives here and said that is the last time she will go there for food.

    Amazing wine flights! The cheese plate chosen to compliment the flights was perfectly delicious! And, the staff was friendly and accommodating. I'll definitely go back on my next trip out west. Meanwhile, I'll order a bottle or two for the house.

    Robert the bartender is the best! This place is beautiful cozy and welcoming. All the staff is nice and the wines are delicious. Paired with the cheese platter and robert as our guide this was a great experience.

    St. Clair is definitely a breath of fresh air in a city filled with fast food and nothing but Mexican. Being new to the area, a few friends suggested we have dinner there for a girls' night. I was definitely glad I found this wonderful restaurant. Our waitress was super friendly and very knowledgeable of the wines offered to make suggestions. The riesling was terrific, and the selection of wines was great. And the food... wow. Yum. I ordered the pot roast, and it was amazing. Super tender and moist with excellent sides. I nearly licked the plate clean. My friends both ordered pasta, which looked really good and they also inhaled their food. You know the food is good when we spent more time making "Mmmm" noises than actually talking. I'm looking forward to visiting again and this time I'll remember to purchase a few bottles of wine on my way out.

    The pasta New Mexico was delicious, just needed a bit more spice to make it perfect. The pasta was a blend of New Mexico green chiles and a cream sauce. The ports are really nice here and have big flavor!

    This spot has the potential to be a restaurant "soul mate", but after four visits it falls somewhere between "maybe I'll go out with you unless I get a better offer" and "sorry, I don't think this is going to work out" Let's start with the positive -all the food is consistently good. All of their green chile items were delish with the perfect amount of heat. The nosh plate has a nice selection of cheese and accompanying nibbles (although a different local restaurant serves their nosh plate with chocolate covered strawberries, which seems like it should be the perfect fit for a wine bar). The wine selection is good, the quality is decent (sorry, you just don't go to NM for wine). The atmosphere strikes a good balance between chill and date-worthy. Now for the bad. The servers are not well trained resulting in service that's spotty *at best*, and huge #fail for whoever runs their kitchen and dining room - wait, I'm assuming anyone runs it, which I can't find evidence of. The servers don't seem to have set sections, as they're always running inside and out from table to table, which results in long periods without them checking on the table and worse, makes it's nearly impossible to get their attention when you need something (which you always do because they disappear after dropping off your food). On our last visit we were told fresh bread was "on its way" when we were greeted, but didn't show up until I flagged down a different server 20 minutes later because our pregnant lunch companion was about to chew her arm off. Which brings us to what is the most frustrating part of the St. Clair experience - the absolute ridiculous amount of time it takes to get the food out of the kitchen. Our last visit was for Sunday lunch. 3 of us ordered the soup and 1/2 sandwich combo, 1 ordered a hamburger. FORTY minutes later I flagged down our server and asked her to go ahead and bring the check because we now had 20 minutes before we had to leave, so I didn't want to have to wait on the check as well. Kudos to her for taking that as serving double duty of "where the heck is our food?" But instead of apologizing, she threw out the "it shouldn't be long, the kitchen is really backed up." I give myself credit for not literally laughing out loud, as the restaurant was about 25% occupied, and was only about 10% full when we actually ordered. Come on - are they curing the bacon back there? We were also right on the other side of the kitchen, so we could see it was complete chaos. The frustration is two-fold - it takes what should have been a 4 star experience and cuts it in half, but moreover that's the easiest to fix. I can't say I'll never go back, but it certainly won't be anytime soon.

    So first off, the new location is nice and there is a good selection of wines. This was our first time here, it was Valentine's weekend and very busy. I had the prime rib which was delicious, my stepson had the bistro burger ordered well done and my fiancé had the st. Claire chicken which was tender and good also. The kitchen messed up on the burger twice but the manager corrected it for us. Our server, Kayla was super nice. All in all, this is a good place to check out and we got our meal free because of the kitchen. We did take home 3 bottles of wine too.
